Cody Parks

Cody Parks is a Trade Operations Associate and joined the Firm in 2023. Prior to Deerfield, Mr. Parks was a Derivatives Trade Management Analyst at Credit Suisse for more than two years. He holds a B.S. in Finance and Risk Management from the University of Southern Maine. 

Nelson Barriocanal

Nelson Barriocanal is a Trader and joined the Firm in 2010 as Director of Research for the Deerfield Institute, overseeing various aspects of the Firm’s research. He transitioned to the Trading team in 2019. Prior to joining Deerfield, Mr. Barriocanal spent over ten years with Merrill Lynch and Susquehanna International Group, working directly with healthcare investment firms to facilitate their access to liquidity and information in the equity and option markets. Mr. Barriocanal holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Delaware.

Terence Fox-Karnal

Terence Fox-Karnal is a Partner and Head Equity Linked and Credit Trader and joined the Firm in 2010. As part of the Public Structured Finance team, he provides analytical and structuring services to the Firm. Mr. Fox-Karnal started his career at BAM Capital LLC as a volatility trader and then joined TORO Trading LLC as a Partner trading equity derivatives in the healthcare sector. Mr. Fox-Karnal holds an S.B. in Finance and Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Paul Takats

Paul Takats is a Partner and Head Equity Trader and joined the Firm in 2010. Mr. Takats began his trading career at Goldman Sachs, later becoming co-head of biotech trading and serving in his last year at the firm as a healthcare specialty sales trader. He then joined Bear Stearns as a healthcare specialty sales trader and later made a subsequent move to head the healthcare trading desk at Bank of America Securities. Mr. Takats also spent one year at RBC Capital Markets as a Healthcare Sector Desk Strategist. He graduated from SUNY at Stony Brook with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in International Economics and from the Stern School of Business at NYU with a major in Finance and a minor in International Finance.
